Just a day ago, we were alerted about a puppy found barely moving on the street, clearly using the last of its strength. The poor animal was emaciated, and its body was riddled with sores.

I’ll never forget the desperate look in that puppy’s eyes. It didn’t end up like this overnight; it must have endured a tremendous amount of suffering and faced rejection more times than one can imagine.

Upon rescue, we immediately provided the necessary medical care, conducting a series of tests. Thankfully, the puppy tested negative for Ehrlichia and other blood parasites. A blood transfusion was performed, which boosted its spirits and appetite.

The puppy was alarmingly thin, nothing but skin and bones. Exhausted and severely malnourished, its skin condition was further complicated by mange, leading to damaging infections and ulcers all over its body.

Its condition was critical, with a cautious prognosis; however, efforts were made to stabilize it with medication and multivitamins.

Five days on, the little fighter, dubbed Wolverine, is hanging in there. While still in critical condition, his chances are looking slightly better. His body is slowly responding to the treatment, starting to recover and regain normal function.

By the tenth day, signs of recovery were evident. There was noticeable progress in his treatment. Today, Wolverine managed to stand and take a few steps on his own. Although he often needs encouragement, these small victories are significant.

Each day brings new milestones, as his physical changes become increasingly apparent and promising. Celebrating his first month with us was a moving experience, filled with joy and positive emotions.
