In Rio Grande, a severely underweight dog named Trinity was found in dire need of assistance. For the past few days, she had been kept in a barn with limited food, leading her previous caretakers to mistakenly think she was recovering.
We paid for transport to take her to an emergency veterinarian in Corpus Christi, TX.
Trinity’s health assessment revealed an exceptionally low body mass index, severe anemia, and an inability to bear weight on her right hind leg.

Additionally, she has an old injury on her front leg that hasn’t healed properly. According to the veterinarian, she hasn’t eaten well in a long while.
Her condition was further complicated by dehydration and anemia due to a severe flea infestation, prompting the recommendation for a blood transfusion.
Her nutritional rehabilitation needs to be gradual, with very small portions of potentially specialized food.

The veterinary team reported that despite her condition, Trinity is eager to live and extremely gentle. Her treatment is in its early stages, addressing her hip and leg issues, as well as requiring special food, continued blood tests, and other rehabilitative care.
Radiographs of her legs revealed multiple complications, including the absence of a kneecap. Despite these challenges, Trinity’s spirit remains strong.

She is now stable, though her long-term outlook is still uncertain. Her path to recovery will be extensive and demanding, involving numerous treatments to address her health problems.
In the face of such adversity, Trinity is fighting fiercely, determined to seize her chance at a better life. This precious dog undoubtedly deserves this incredible opportunity.
