A compassionate woman recently came to the rescue of two stray kittens she found in dire circumstances. Donna, a dedicated volunteer involved in trap-neuter-return efforts for feral cats in Ohio, made the discovery about a month ago while tending to local cats in need.
During her routine rounds, Donna noticed a frightened kitten trembling on a windowsill, abandoned and alone near the feral cat colony she regularly cares for.
“I looked up and saw this tiny kitten, paralyzed with fear,” she recounted to Love Meow. Lacking a carrier, Donna improvised by emptying a large container she kept in her car for cat food.
As soon as she picked up the kitten, which she named NeNe, it started to purr, seemingly comforted by the touch. Donna took NeNe to a veterinary clinic for a thorough assessment.
Neighbors informed her about another kitten of the same age seen with NeNe, who was believed to be her brother. To Donna’s dismay, the nearby house where they had been living was both dilapidated and vacated.
Returning to the location, Donna successfully rescued the other kitten, named Nico. Upon reuniting the siblings, Donna described the scene as heartwarming, highlighting the strong bond they shared.
Both kittens arrived at the clinic malnourished and infested with fleas. After receiving food, a medical check-up, and necessary treatments, they bounced back to health.
Despite being heavier than Nico, NeNe quickly learned from her brother, who guided her in adjusting to their newfound safe environment.
The story of NeNe and Nico’s recovery is captured in a video that showcases their journey together. Although Nico was lighter by a pound, he instinctively took on a protective role, teaching NeNe essential skills like using the litter box.
As they regained their strength, the kittens graduated from their playpen to a bigger space, reveling in playtime with ample room and toys.
Their lively antics were a source of pure joy, with Donna sharing, “They are a delight, radiating happiness and warmth.”
The siblings also welcomed a fellow foster kitten named Willow into their fold, with Nico acting as a peacemaker and encouraging camaraderie among the group.
After several weeks in foster care, the inseparable pair went up for adoption through Cats are People Too Club, Inc. (CAPT).
Their story concluded on a high note when they found a loving home together. CAPT celebrated, stating, “Nico and NeNe have found their perfect family and remain united!”
Reflecting on the experience, Donna expressed her joy in having rescued the kittens from a grim fate. “They are delightful, playful, and ready to bring endless love and happiness to their new family,” she fondly remarked.
