It’s a heartbreaking scene to imagine—an innocent dog, forsaken by the people he trusted, left tied to a fence, yearning for the affection he thought he’d always have.
This was the grim reality for one unfortunate pup, who was discovered wrapped in just a T-shirt and abandoned by those he considered family.
Stranded and visibly injured, his cries for help echoed through the neighborhood, appealing for someone to notice his suffering and act with kindness.

Enter Michael Favor, the founder of Pitbulls and Addicts, a New York-based rescue organization. When he got the alarming call about this starving and injured dog, he hurried to the scene with concern about what distressing sight might await him.
Upon arrival, Favor discovered the dog curled up underneath a bush, a sight that tugged at his heart. The dog’s eyes revealed a deep sense of pain and desperation, silently asking for the help he so desperately needed.
Covered in sores and battling severe skin infections, it was evident the dog, now named Teddy, was in urgent need of medical care.
Favor wasted no time in freeing Teddy from his sad circumstances and comforted him. Although Teddy looked surprised, as if uncertain that anyone might still show him compassion, he allowed himself to be rescued.

He was quickly taken to Bay Street Animal Hospital in Staten Island, where a compassionate veterinary team began addressing his medical needs.
Teddy was hospitalized immediately, starting a regimen of antibiotics and topical treatments to heal his many injuries.
Each day, Teddy was surrounded by warmth and gentle care from the hospital staff. Despite his traumatic experiences, he gradually understood that these humans were different—they genuinely wanted to help.
His eyes, once clouded with sorrow, started to shine again; he wagged his tail for the first time, warmly greeting the caregivers who tended to him daily.

The medical team’s dedication was rewarded as Teddy responded with affection, forming a bond of trust. Remarkably, in just two weeks, Teddy’s ulcers had healed, and he was transforming into a stronger, happier dog. He was regaining his trust in humanity.
Soon, Teddy will transition to Pitbulls and Addicts, marking the beginning of his journey to find a permanent and loving home.
Thanks to a rescuer’s compassion and the relentless care from the medical team, Teddy is finally enjoying the chance of the life he truly deserves. All await the day he finds a forever family that will cherish him as he should always have been.
