However, Livia discovered his love for peanut butter, which helped to forge a stronger connection. Charlie’s fondness for making eye contact was something Livia found remarkable. “He will come over to you on the couch and just look at you straight in the eyes while you’re petting him. It’s kind of arresting, like he can just see into your soul,” she shared. Despite suffering from a health issue that affected his legs and requiring some dental work, Charlie has adapted well to his new home. Though he prefers human company over canine due to a previous encounter, he delights in introducing his toys to visitors, showcasing his friendly nature.
For Livia, Charlie has been a transformative presence. His companionship has provided her with purpose and routine, helping her manage her depression. “I have depression and getting Charlie was the best thing for that because I leave the house every morning. I have to walk outside and I feel like I have a purpose when I am with him,” she explained.
