Despite being overwhelmed by exhaustion and anxiety, a courageous mother dog did her utmost to care for her litter, moving them to safety whenever necessary.
Unfortunately, this caring mother fell seriously ill, and her puppies began to weaken. Tragically, six puppies did not survive, leaving the mother in critical condition and barely able to stand.
We quickly transported them to the hospital, where the mother, named Serena, was diagnosed with dehydration, anemia, and a positive result for Ehrlichia, a serious infection. Her condition was dire, necessitating at least three days of intensive care.
Even in her suffering, Serena remained focused on the well-being of her remaining puppies, displaying the profound love and sacrifice only a mother can provide.
Witnessing Serena’s battle for survival alongside her eleven puppies brought a mix of sadness, fear, and a glimmer of hope to all of us involved. We worked tirelessly to ensure they received the necessary care and attention.
Though sleepless nights posed challenges, observing Serena and her puppies grow stronger each day made all our efforts worthwhile. We provided them with the extra care and encouragement needed, knowing their road to recovery would be long and demanding.
As the days went by, Serena and her puppies showed remarkable improvement, becoming healthier and more joyful. Their resilience and determination fueled our passion to continue our mission of rescuing and nurturing animals in need. Despite the difficulties, our journey with Serena and her puppies reaffirmed our commitment to making a positive impact on their lives.
