While driving through Bali, Prue spotted a small brown dog stranded dangerously close to the edge of a bustling road, surrounded by speeding vehicles. Realizing she needed to help, she quickly learned that rescuing the dog would require patience and caution.
The dog had trapped itself between the road and a nearby rice field, posing a risk of it darting into either the moving traffic or the open field. Understanding the need for a careful approach, Prue decided to win the dog’s trust gradually by getting to know him.
Recalling her encounter in a conversation with The Dodo, Prue shared, “I spoke to the family there, and they said they knew the dog, but no one could touch him.”
Once the dog reached a less perilous spot, Prue slowly drew closer, offering gentle words and food to gain his trust. Eventually, she was able to lift him into safety without causing panic.
The dog, understandably nervous at first, quickly adapted to Prue’s presence, trusting her completely after just one night. “I honestly didn’t think it was the same dog,” Prue commented on the transformation.
Prue’s approach to new rescues involves allowing them to adjust at their own pace, keeping them outside until they’re ready to come indoors. “I let them inside when they’re ready to. It can take an hour, it could take several days,” Prue explained.
With gentle encouragement, the little brown dog ventured inside the house. Once familiarized with his new environment and furry companions, he settled in comfortably, showing no desire to leave.
Prue ensures all her dogs are well-exercised, taking them to a field for daily runs. The fresh air and playtime helped the newly rescued pup, now named Willis, form bonds with his new friends. Initially kept on a leash for security, Willis soon earned Prue’s trust to roam freely.
Experiencing love and care for the first time, Willis expressed his joy enthusiastically, feeling grateful for the compassion he had never known before.
Before long, Willis found a permanent home filled with love and care, embracing the affection he always longed for. “He’s just surrounded by love, which is everything that he’s ever wanted!”
