Rare photos of Angelina Jolie taken by photographer Kate Garner in 1995 show a different side of the actress, emphasizing her sharp features and unique style.
In these early snapshots, Jolie’s bold eyebrows, intense black eyes, and iconic lips highlight her distinct beauty. One particularly intriguing photo depicts Jolie sitting with her legs tightly bound, her gaze seemingly vacant.
Though this pose might seem unusual, Garner revealed it was Jolie’s idea, adding, “Angelina found different ways of posing without much guidance from me, including sitting with her legs tied. The photo later became one of the most unique works about her.”
These aren’t the only glimpses into Jolie’s past. In addition to Garner’s photos, the Daily Mail published a series of videos showing Jolie taking acting classes in the early 2000s.
By 1991, Jolie had already begun her career as a photo model, hoping to break into the entertainment industry.
However, her teenage years were not without their struggles. Jolie admitted to feeling isolated and depressed, even engaging in self-harm.
“I became like this after discovering I couldn’t communicate with the people around me,” she said. “Growing up, I wasn’t used to letting other people hug me, even if it was my mother.”
In her youth, Jolie listened to rock music and learned to dance in her spare time, with aspirations of becoming a humanitarian activist.
“I knew very little about the world around me and only cared about myself. I don’t see myself as beautiful because I only see flaws,” she remarked about her mindset during those years.
Jolie’s acting career began in 1993 with her debut in the low-budget fantasy film Cyborg 2. Just two years later, she starred alongside Jonny Lee Miller in Hackers, leading to their marriage in 1996 and subsequent divorce in 1997.
