An email from Angelina Jolie to her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, revealing her reasons for wanting to sell her share of their joint winery has resurfaced amidst their ongoing legal disputes.
Initially sent in January 2021, the email provides a glimpse into the emotional and business-related conflicts surrounding Chateau Miraval, a French winery the couple shared during their marriage.

The email resurfaced in a TikTok video posted by user @magshrts1, and its authenticity has been confirmed by court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight.
In the email, Jolie, 47, expressed her intent to sell her share in the winery, which had become contentious during the divorce proceedings with Pitt, 58.

Jolie, known for her role in “Maleficent,” explained that she wrote the email to keep emotions at bay while discussing her reasons for parting ways with the winery.
She mentioned that the estate held sentimental value, being the place where the couple married and brought their twins home.
However, she said it also marked “the beginning of the end” of their family, describing it as a business centered around alcohol—a sensitive topic given their personal history.

Jolie said she had witnessed “inconsiderate behavior” in the four years leading up to the email and felt excluded from business decisions.
She criticized the winery’s advertising, indicating it evoked painful memories and was not something she wanted their children to see.
This, along with other business practices, led her to conclude that she could no longer be involved in an alcohol-related business, as it conflicted with her values and negatively impacted their family.

In her email, Jolie proposed two solutions: an outright sale of the winery or a complete buyout of her share by Pitt, the Perrin family, or their associates.
She emphasized the need to move forward quickly to focus on healing and maintaining positive connections within their family. The couple’s legal battle over Chateau Miraval has continued since their 2016 split.
In February, Pitt sued Jolie for selling her share of the winery to a Russian oligarch without his approval, alleging it violated a mutual understanding from their 2019 divorce agreement.

Jolie’s former company, Nouvel, countered with a $250 million lawsuit against Pitt, accusing him of attempting to control the winery.
Jolie and Pitt, who wed in 2014 and split in 2016, share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox.
