Mimi’s condition was heartbreaking. Her advanced pregnancy made it nearly impossible for her to find food, leaving her starving and weak.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, rescuers immediately took her to a veterinary clinic, hoping to save both Mimi and her unborn puppies.
Upon arrival, veterinarians determined Mimi was 65 days pregnant—beyond the typical canine gestation period.
This, combined with her weakened state, made giving birth naturally extremely risky. She was too malnourished and exhausted to deliver the puppies on her own.
Shortly after arriving at the clinic, Mimi went into labor. She delivered one puppy naturally, but complications arose, preventing the remaining puppies from being born.
After two hours of stalled labor, an emergency cesarean section was performed, resulting in the safe delivery of four more puppies—three males and two females.
Even after the successful surgery, Mimi’s struggles continued. Her malnutrition prevented her from producing milk, so rescuers stepped in to bottle-feed the newborn pups and keep them warm.
Gradually, Mimi began to recover, regaining her appetite and strength.
Over the next few weeks, Mimi’s health improved steadily, and her puppies thrived. By day 20, Mimi began interacting more with her pups, whose eyes were starting to open.
At 35 days old, the puppies began to take their first steps and started the weaning process.
Their playful energy brought joy to everyone around them, and Mimi watched over them with loving care.
By day 60, all five puppies had found loving forever homes, guaranteeing them safe and happy futures.
Mimi, too, returned to her own forever home, where she could finally relax and enjoy the life she deserved.
