The Love Furry Friends YouTube channel shared images of a dog that had been left tied up and abandoned. His appearance clearly showed signs of prolonged hunger.

When two rescuers found him, they immediately offered him a can of food. Famished, the dog eagerly devoured the meal, his ribs prominently visible, and the chain around his neck had worn away patches of his fur.

Now named Toby, this Ukrainian dog was taken to a veterinarian for a thorough examination. He is a lovely dog hoping to find a forever home, and many are hopeful that a family will soon welcome him.

In the aftermath of the invasion, numerous Ukrainian pet owners fled with their animals. To ease this transition, the European Commission took steps in the spring to simplify the process of bringing pets into EU member countries.

However, authorities remain vigilant as there is a notable difference in disease prevalence, particularly rabies, between Ukraine and the EU.

Sweden, alongside the Netherlands, has taken an active interest in this issue. The Swedish Agriculture Council has provided detailed information on its website about the current regulations for pets accompanying their fleeing owners from Ukraine.

They emphasize that each case is individually evaluated, mainly to assess the risk of animals carrying rabies and to ensure the safety of both public and animal health in Sweden.
