Production for Disney’s sequel to “Maleficent” is in full swing, and the film stars, Elle Fanning and Angelina Jolie are having a blast on set.
The two actresses in the UK filming the follow-up to the 2014 box office hit recently shared behind-the-scenes selfies that showcase their excitement about the project.
Elle Fanning, 20, who reprises her role as Princess Aurora, posted on Instagram a playful selfie with Angelina Jolie, 42, who returns as the titular character, Maleficent.
Both actresses are seen wearing white dressing gowns, with Jolie in her iconic horned headdress. Fanning captioned the photo, “Ultimate Photobomb #Maleficent2.”
In another photo, Fanning is laughing as Jolie flashes a peace sign from behind, further highlighting the lighthearted atmosphere on set.
The caption read, “It’s bring your mom to work day on the #Maleficent2 set,” suggesting a familial bond between the two actresses. The sequel to “Maleficent” continues the story of the complex relationship between Maleficent and Princess Aurora.
According to Disney’s synopsis, the film takes place several years after the first movie, exploring the changing dynamics between the horned fairy and the soon-to-be queen, as they form new alliances and encounter new adversaries while protecting the magical moors and its inhabitants.
Returning cast members include Sam Riley as Maleficent’s shape-shifting servant Diaval, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville as fairies Knotgrass, Thistlewit, and Flittle, respectively.
New additions to the cast are Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith, along with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Robert Lindsay.
Although the release date for “Maleficent II” has not been announced, fans eagerly await its premiere, with one Instagram comment reading, “I can’t wait for this!!!! So excited.”
