People often think of dogs as companions, but for these animals, humans represent much more—they are their world, providing friendship and comfort. Dogs form strong attachments, making even brief separations difficult. So, when they are abandoned, the emotional toll is immense.

This harsh reality became all too real for a small puppy in a recent rescue story. Suzette Hall, who leads Logan’s Legacy 29 in Irvine, California, has dedicated her life to rescuing animals.

Each situation she encounters is as touching as the last. When she heard about a puppy left alone on a bustling freeway, she knew time was of the essence.

Without delay, Suzette enlisted the help of her friend Arturo. Late that night, they ventured out to rescue the distressed dog. On their arrival, they were met with a dire scene: a busy freeway with cars rushing past and a scared puppy frozen in fear.

A homeless man nearby mentioned that since being left behind, the puppy hadn’t moved, seemingly hoping for its family’s return.

Suzette and Arturo understood the peril. A single misstep might cause the terrified puppy to run into traffic. Suzette shared on Facebook, “I honestly could not have done this rescue by myself.

And I am so thankful to Arturo for being there with me and for helping me. One wrong move and he would have run into the oncoming traffic.”

The rescuers knew their actions had to be precise. Utilizing nearby materials like a mattress, wooden planks, and boxes, they constructed a simple enclosure to secure the puppy safely.

With determination and teamwork, they calmly guided him into this makeshift pen. Whenever the dog attempted to flee, Arturo stood firm, making sure it stayed safe.

They gently transported the young dog to their car and immediately headed to a veterinarian. They were relieved he had a second chance and decided to name him “Chance.”

The veterinary staff pampered Chance with a much-needed makeover, leaving him healthier and happier. Thanks to Suzette and Arturo’s dedication, Chance now looks forward to a bright and secure future.
