Rescued Pup Cici Overcomes Hardship, Finds Hope and Friendship at Animal Hospital

When Suzette Hall learned about a small dog abandoned and tied to a fire hydrant in a Southern California neighborhood, her heart sank, although it was a situation she sadly encountered before.

As the founder of Logan’s Legacy dog rescue, she had recently saved several dogs from the same street, with this pup being an unfortunate addition to their ranks.

The dog’s previous owners had left some food and water behind, but a caller reported that the dog hadn’t touched either. Instead, the dog remained curled up, barely moving from her spot.

Hall was eager to rescue the dog herself, but given the urgency, she contacted a nearby resident for immediate assistance.

The dog’s previous owners had left some ...

“I reached out to a friend who lives close by and asked her to please go get the pup,” Hall shared.

The neighbor promptly responded, heading to the street corner where she discovered the 8-month-old puppy, later named Cici, tied up to the hydrant.

“She was just twisting and twisting around that hydrant with her leash,” Hall recounted. “The poor dog was all tangled up.”

When Cici spotted the woman kneeling down to help, she growled nervously, unsure of what was happening. However, with Hall’s guidance over the phone, the woman managed to comfort Cici and release her from her ties.

Using a soft blanket, the woman gently picked up Cici and placed her in her car. As they rushed to the animal hospital, Cici’s condition worsened.

“She got very sick in the car,” Hall explained, attributing it to fear and a lack of nourishment, as the dog had been too frightened to eat.

Fortunately, they arrived at Camino Pet Hospital just in time. Cici received fluids and was showered with affection, which helped her condition improve swiftly.

“They monitored her, and then, all of a sudden, she was feeling better,” Hall mentioned. “She began to perk up again.”

During her stay at the hospital, Cici made several new friends, but she formed a particularly special bond with Hedy Herold, the hospital’s office manager.

“Whenever Hedy walks by, Cici’s tail wags with excitement,” Hall noted. “She becomes so thrilled because she recognizes Hedy.”

Recently, Cici was cleared for foster care and is set to leave the clinic to join her temporary family as she continues searching for her forever home.

Hall is eagerly anticipating finding Cici the perfect adoptive family soon. Despite her difficult past, Cici has shown incredible resilience and is ready to embrace her new life.
