In a heartwarming tale of resilience, Ger Ger, a Springer Spaniel, has made a remarkable recovery after enduring severe abuse and hardship.
Once a victim of cruel treatment, where her own owner severed her paw and sold her into the dog meat trade following an incident where she bit a goose out of hunger, Ger Ger’s journey toward healing took a positive turn at the Li Liu Small Animals Rescue Camp.
Upon her arrival, Ger Ger was understandably wary of humans. However, Dr. Song wasted no time, performing an urgent surgery to save her.
Gradually, with a week of dedicated care and compassion from the veterinary team, Ger Ger began to trust those around her.

During an affectionate check-up, Dr. Song checked in with the previously distrustful pup, asking, “How’s our little Springer Spaniel? Doing well?” as he gently examined her.
Ger Ger’s recovery both physically and emotionally was evident as she started to engage playfully with the caregivers and other animals at the camp.
One caregiver joyfully remarked on her happiness, “Playing with the young brother,” as her playful nature shone through.

“Her health has improved remarkably,” Dr. Song said with pride, noting that her stitches had already been removed. Soon, Ger Ger’s mobility returned to normal.
When questioned about her ability to run, Dr. Song confirmed, “Yes, she can come out like normal dogs,” confirming her remarkable progress.
As the time came for Ger Ger to leave the hospital, Dr. Song reassured her, “No one’s gonna hurt you anymore,” as they headed back to the safety of the rescue camp.

In a dedicated space designed for special care, Ger Ger received ample affection and support. Caregivers expressed their hopes for her future, wishing for her to “live like a princess.”
While still in quarantine for her safety, it was clear that brighter days lay ahead, with the promise of soon joining other dogs in a larger, welcoming yard.
With heartfelt assurance, they reiterated, “No one’s gonna hurt you anymore,” underscoring their commitment to providing her with a life filled with love and security.
