Sunshine’s journey to healing and happiness has been a tough one. For much of her life, she longed for a life free from suffering, yet all she encountered was pain.
Her story took a turn when the compassionate team at Stray Rescue of St. Louis in Missouri discovered her plight. Sunshine had been hit by a car and left with severe injuries, lying helplessly by the roadside with no one to assist her.

Remarkably, Sunshine was left unattended for two days before someone finally reached out to alert the rescue organization. Upon rescue, a veterinarian’s examination confirmed the distressing news: she had a broken pelvis.
The rescue group shared on their Facebook page, “She was hit by a car and lay on the side of the road for two days. With her broken pelvis, she must have been terrified! But now she’s here with us, and she’s incredibly sweet.”
Despite enduring a tremendous amount of physical pain, Sunshine’s spirit remained unshaken. Contrary to what one might expect, she proved to be open to interactions and affection, surprising everyone with her positivity.

The rescue team rejoiced at having saved Sunshine just in the nick of time. They were moved not only by her rescue but by her endearing personality. They described her as a “radiant light” with an unwavering positive attitude, expressing confidence in her ability to heal.
Sunshine immersed herself in her new environment, showing affection to everyone around her. Despite her physical injuries, she was ready to share love, hugs, and kisses with all her caretakers.
Her condition means that she is currently unable to walk and must remain mostly on crate rest. However, she still finds joy in her day, thanks to her caregivers who take her on delightful stroller rides, allowing her to enjoy the fresh air.

“They mentioned that she will walk again when she heals, but for now, stroller rides let her enjoy the outdoors,” the team shared.
Sunshine’s journey to full recovery is ongoing, requiring consistent care and medical attention. For her continued healing, a medical foster home would be ideal. She is eager for a loving home and a family of her own, and the hope is that it won’t be long before she finds them.
Wishing Sunshine all the best on her road to recovery!
