At the Li Liu Small Animal Rescue Camp, the night was calm, but a sense of urgency filled the air. Dr. Song’s voice reverberated softly as he described the condition of an elderly dog they had just welcomed at the facility.
“He’s fallen asleep,” Dr. Song announced, sounding relieved. The dog, visibly wounded, had clearly endured a lot. As Dr. Song gently inspected the dog, he remarked, “This ear seems damaged.”
Noticing that the dog’s previously twitching leg had calmed, he felt reassured—finally, the dog could rest.
Earlier that evening, a call for help had been received at 9:41 PM from Harbin. Dr. Song recounted the events of the urgent mission.
The dog, belonging to a small teddy breed, had been hit by a car in the Hulan district and was in serious condition. “I’m at the community shown here,” Dr. Song stated as he awaited the eyewitness’s account to guide his actions.

When the eyewitness arrived, Dr. Song inquired, “Is this the dog?” She nodded solemnly and explained how the dog was abandoned, thrown at the main entrance.
Her voice was laden with concern. As Dr. Song listened, he felt a wave of sadness for the helpless animal.
The eyewitness revealed more details. “In the afternoon, he was just lying there, his legs twitching constantly,” she noted with worry. Dr. Song’s anxiety grew as he asked if the dog had eaten.
“No, he didn’t eat or drink anything,” she replied. It was clear the dog had been severely neglected and suffering.

Determined to act quickly, Dr. Song laid out a treatment plan. “Let’s give him painkillers, stop the bleeding, and start him on nutrition supplements,” he directed, as the team rapidly set to work.
Each wound was treated with care. “The doctor has applied medicine to all the injured areas,” Dr. Song updated, thankful the dog was accepting the treatment. Although his condition remained critical, hope was on the horizon.
Dr. Song was already planning the next steps. “Thank you, everyone, and please spread the word,” he urged, hoping someone might recognize the dog.
“We are preparing for surgery on his ribs,” he explained of the upcoming procedure. Though recovery was uncertain, each step brought the dog closer to safety.

As days went by, the small teddy breed began to heal slowly. At the hospital, a dedicated medical team administered medication, maintained his comfort, and attended to his injuries. At last, Dr. Song received the news he’d been hoping for.
“Teddy has recovered and been discharged from the pet hospital,” he shared joyfully. After a long road to recovery, the little dog had made it.
“He’s now living at the rescue camp,” Dr. Song concluded, content that Teddy had found a fresh start, leaving behind his painful past.
